Apple Music is finally here, along with a free three month trial to ensure that everyone gets to experience it. If you’re an iOS user you’ll receive an email encouraging you to start your free trial now.

Whilst the service from Apple is indeed free during this period, be warned that any data used on a mobile connection when accessing the service is going to come from your data bundle and if you’re using your mobile overseas this will be at the standard rates, which of course may be at a premium.

As with any service of this kind (Spotify etc.) Intercity recommend that you use your Wi-Fi to stream and download music. To ensure that there is no accidental use of mobile you can disable this for Music (and other apps) in;

Settings – Mobile/Cellular – Under the heading “Use Mobile Data For”

Apple Music (Ensure toggled to “Off”)

While you are in the section above you may wish to review what other applications are currently authorised to use mobile data and take a decision to disable to reduce your bundle usage particularly when overseas.

Similarly, if you think that you may have opted into Apple Music by mistake, or you don't want to be charged for a subscription fee on September 30th, make sure that you disable auto-renewal, just like any other iTunes subscription:

Tap the "Account" icon on the top left of the Apple Music app > navigate to “View Apple ID” > tap "Manage" under subscriptions > tap "Your Membership" > untick the auto-renewal checkbox at the bottom.

You will still be able to trial Apple Music for the next three months, you'll just avoid any surprise charges.
